“An American horror story.”
Set in 1970s New York, The Apprentice follows a young Donald Trump as he tries to turn family privilege into a public name. His rise takes shape through his meeting with Roy Cohn, a hard-edged attorney who recognizes ambition in him and begins to shape it. The film traces how that relationship draws Trump deeper into a world of power, pressure and ruthless calculation. It is a drama with historical and comic elements, built around a real-life ascent.

Directed by Ali Abbasi, the film stars Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump and Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn. Stan plays Trump as an eager heir looking for a path to prominence, while Strong gives Cohn the force of a mentor who knows how to bend the rules. The cast also includes Maria Bakalova, Martin Donovan and Catherine McNally in supporting roles. Their performances anchor the story in the personal dynamic between the two men rather than in public spectacle.

The film moves through an American business and political landscape where image, influence and loyalty matter as much as money. Its tone is tense and often darkly ironic, even when the material turns outwardly comic. At 122 minutes, it keeps its focus on ambition as a corrosive force and on the cost of learning from a man like Cohn.
