Hell, any of them could have done it.
After the death of wealthy novelist Harlan Thrombey at his Massachusetts estate, a private detective is brought in to sort through a family full of suspicion. The inquiry moves through the house, where relatives and staff each have reasons to hide what they know. As the case unfolds, the story keeps shifting between accusation and doubt, making the death look less straightforward than it first appears.

Rian Johnson directs this 2019 film, shaping it as a sharp mystery with comic edges and a careful sense of misdirection. Daniel Craig plays Detective Benoit Blanc, whose calm, probing manner drives the investigation forward. Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon and the rest of the ensemble play members of the Thrombey household and its circle, each pulled into Blanc's search for the truth. Their scenes turn the film into a contest of motives, alibis and private grudges.

Set almost entirely inside a grand family home, the film uses the estate as a pressure cooker for resentment, class tension and inherited privilege. Its tone mixes wit with unease, so the humor never completely softens the sense that something is deeply wrong. The result is a polished whodunit that treats the mansion itself as part of the puzzle.
