Beirut, 1982: The Paris of the Middle East Was Burning
Set in Beirut in 1982, the film follows Mason Skiles, a former U.S. diplomat drawn back into danger for a rescue mission that puts him in the middle of a tense political crisis. He is forced to navigate a city under strain while trying to save a colleague and stay ahead of the forces closing in around him. The story moves through espionage, suspicion and shifting loyalties as the situation grows more perilous.

Brad Anderson directs the film, shaping it as a suspenseful drama with thriller elements. Jon Hamm leads the cast as Mason Skiles, bringing the mission back to the center of his life. Rosamund Pike appears as a CIA field agent working undercover at the American embassy, assigned to keep Mason alive and help the operation succeed. The film also features Dean Norris, Mark Pellegrino and Shea Whigham in supporting roles.

The city itself is central to the film, with Beirut presented as a place of pressure, uncertainty and constant movement. The atmosphere is tense and shadowed, balancing political intrigue with the personal cost of being pulled back into service. Its tone is serious and uneasy, with the city’s unrest shaping every decision and every risk.
