The time to hide is over. The time to regret is gone. The time to live is now.
The Hours follows three women in different times and places as they search for lives that feel fuller and more honest. Their separate days move in parallel, shaped by private longing, fear and the pressure of ordinary routines. As their stories unfold, the film draws them toward one another in a way that gives their inner struggles a shared weight.

Stephen Daldry directs this drama, shaping the material around intimate performances and careful shifts between the women’s lives. Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore and Meryl Streep lead the film, each carrying a strand of the story through moments of restraint, doubt and resolve. Their characters are linked less by direct contact than by the emotional patterns that echo across the film.

Set across different periods and locations, the film treats time as something felt as much as measured. It moves with a reflective, serious tone, giving attention to loneliness, duty and the desire for change. The result is a quietly intense drama with a strong sense of interior life.
