Even a hit man deserves a second shot.
Grosse Pointe Blank follows Martin Blank, a hit man whose life turns awkward when he refuses to join a union of assassins. Pressed by his assistant and his psychiatrist, he heads to his ten-year high school reunion in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. There he is forced back into the world he left behind and into contact with the woman he once stood up at prom.

The film was made in the United States in 1997 and runs 107 minutes. It is directed by George Armitage, who shapes the story around Martin's uneasy return and the pressure closing in on him. John Cusack plays Martin Blank, with Minnie Driver as the woman from his past and Dan Aykroyd as the fellow assassin whose offer sets the plot in motion.

Set between the polished nostalgia of a reunion and the brutal routines of a professional killer, the film mixes deadpan humor with crime-movie tension. Its tone is sharp, restless and a little wistful, with the past constantly intruding on the present. The result is a darkly comic story about reinvention, regret and the awkward pull of old connections.
