Lost in our world, found in another.
John Carter is a science-fiction adventure about a former military captain who is pulled from Earth and into the strange world of Barsoom, where rival powers are locked in a widening conflict. As he tries to understand this new planet, he is drawn into its struggles and into the fate of the people who live there. The story follows his reluctant path from outsider to someone whose choices begin to matter to the world around him.

Andrew Stanton directs the film, shaping it around a lead performance by Taylor Kitsch as John Carter. Lynn Collins appears as Dejah Thoris, a princess whose role places her close to the center of Barsoom's political tensions. The cast also includes Willem Dafoe, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong and Ciarán Hinds, each tied to the forces and alliances that drive the conflict. Their characters help turn Carter's arrival into a collision between one man's confusion and a planet already under strain.

Set on Mars, the film blends frontier scale with alien spectacle, giving the story a sense of distance, danger and discovery. Its tone moves between physical action and a more mythic idea of a man finding purpose in an unfamiliar place. The result is a fast-moving adventure with a pulpy, otherworldly atmosphere.
