Starting from scratch never tasted so good.
Chef follows Carl Casper after he walks away from a high-pressure Los Angeles restaurant and has to rebuild his career on his own terms. With his confidence shaken, he looks for a new way to cook that feels personal rather than controlled. The move leads him toward a food truck venture that lets him start over while staying close to the work he loves. As the journey unfolds, the film traces how a fresh beginning can grow out of frustration, pride and stubborn creativity.

Jon Favreau directed the film and also stars as Carl, the chef whose break with his employer sets the story in motion. Sofia Vergara appears as his ex-wife, helping shape the new path he tries to take, while John Leguizamo plays the friend who joins him in the venture. Emjay Anthony plays Carl's son, whose presence keeps the story grounded in family as well as work. Their interactions give the film its sense of momentum, with each character tied to the truck and the life it opens up.

Made in the United States and running 114 minutes, the film plays as a comedy with a warm, road-bound energy. It moves between kitchens, streets and open highways, using food as a way to think about identity, pride and repair. The tone is upbeat but not slick, with a lived-in quality that matches Carl's effort to rebuild both his cooking and his personal life in 2014.
