Pilgrim's Progress follows Pilgrim on a journey toward the Celestial City, carrying him through places of trial and temptation along the way. He passes the Slough of Despond, the Hill of Difficulty and Vanity Fair as the road tests his resolve. Along the route he meets figures such as Pliable, Mr. Obstinate, Worldly Wiseman, Evangelist and Mr. Interpreter, while Apollyon remains a constant enemy. The story builds toward the Cross, where Pilgrim seeks the peace and sanctification he has been pursuing.

This 1978 film runs 72 minutes and was made in Great Britain, the United States and Xi. It is an animated fantasy adapted from John Bunyan's allegory, with stop-motion imagery shaping its world and movement. The film presents Pilgrim's progress through a series of encounters that give form to his struggle, and it uses those figures to mark each stage of the journey.

Its setting is a symbolic landscape rather than a realistic one, with each location standing for a moral test or state of mind. The tone is earnest and reflective, but the darker passages give the pilgrimage a sense of danger and pressure. Faith, endurance and spiritual conflict shape the film's movement from one trial to the next.
